For self-employed & LLC owners

Left an expensive premium? Here’s the operator math on CrowdHealth.

Our household left a bare-bones BCBS plan around ~$1,800/mo for CrowdHealth around ~$700/mo. CrowdHealth is not insurance — it’s medical crowdfunding + advocacy. Funding is not legally guaranteed. This site is honest about who it fits and who should stay on ACA or traditional coverage.

What CrowdHealth actually is

Say the critical phrases out loud before you click anything:

Not insurance

No contractual claim obligation. You present to providers as self-pay / uninsured.

Not a health sharing ministry

For-profit crowdfunding + advocacy platform — no statement of faith required.

Funding not legally guaranteed

Members crowdfund eligible bills. Strong company-reported track record ≠ a legal payment guarantee.

Not MEC

Does not satisfy Minimum Essential Coverage or state individual mandates. Mandate-state residents: read carefully.

Operator framing, not hype. If you need guaranteed claims, HSA-eligible premiums, or near-term coverage for known conditions, stay on ACA / traditional insurance. CrowdHealth is for households willing to operate as self-pay with advocacy help.

Company-reported pricing shape

Figures from CrowdHealth’s public FAQ / How It Works as of September 29, 2026. Not a personalized quote.

ComponentShape (company-reported)
Advocacy fee$60 per member / month (tools, Care Advocates, negotiation, virtual care perks)
Crowdfunding max (standard)Ages 0–54: up to $140; ages 55–64: up to $280; family of 4+: up to $420
Published average~$142/mo individual under 55 ($60 + ~$82 crowdfunding) — company-reported
Member commitment$500 per eligible health event; $3,000 for eligible global pregnancy event
Black Swan tierLower monthly crowdfunding maxes; $15,000 commitment; maternity not eligible

Family of 4 advocacy floor alone = $240/mo before crowdfunding; all-in can approach ~$660 at the family crowdfunding cap. Our ~$700/mo anecdote is directionally consistent — still verify yours. Sources: How it works, FAQ.

Built for founders who hate bleeding premiums

Likely fit

Self-employed / LLC / solopreneur households, relatively healthy, tobacco-free, weight-eligible, under 65, comfortable with self-pay shopping, don’t want a faith gate.

Likely not fit

Tobacco users, weight over FAQ limits, heavy near-term pre-existing needs, mandate-state MEC seekers, HSA-premium optimizers, anyone needing contractual claims.

Maternity note (read before you romanticize the story)

Our family story includes pregnancy context. CrowdHealth eligible maternity is a single Global Pregnancy event with a $3,000 member commitment. If the expected delivery date is < 300 days after the mother’s membership start, maternity is not eligible for crowdfunding. Newborn standard care is a separate event. Never treat CrowdHealth as drop-in pregnancy insurance. Details on the Our story and FAQ pages.
